About Jen

I was ten when I first experienced the power of healing through connection, and what it felt like to be present with people experiencing the same. I didn’t know what it was then, I only knew how safe and joyful it felt. It was another eleven years before I would experience it again. I knew then I wanted to remain on that path, and to be part of helping others have this experience, too.

I’ve had my own winding road working through trauma, grief, and life’s challenges. I think it’s one reason people are drawn to working with me. I’m relatable, genuinely present, and authentic in my work. I believe the most effective therapists “do the work” themselves.

Furthering my journey I obtained national status through the NCTMB as a Licensed Clinical Massage Therapist. While I loved working in this mind body role I strongly desired to expand myself and my work as a healing practitioner. I obtained my Masters degree in Counseling with a minor in Deafness Rehab from NIU. Since 2000, I’ve held clinical and teaching roles working across clinical and community settings including behavioral health PHP/IOP hospital programs, chiropractic clinics and healing centers, and in the mental health line working with veterans at Hines VA. I’ve been in private practice since 2020.

I am passionate about relationships and cultivating healthy relationship dynamics. I love supporting couples/people in their pursuit to break through barriers, repair damage, and create meaningful intimate connection by exploring dynamics collaboratively to gain greater understanding, compassion, and communication within the self and partnership. I enjoy group dynamic work immensely. I understand both military and civilian cultures and enjoy supporting veterans in their healing recovery.

Some of my accomplishments include becoming a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Licensed Clinical Massage Therapist (LCMT), and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Among 25+ years of continuing education, I am trained in Heart Centered Hypnotherapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through EMDRIA. I am currently working toward becoming a Certified PBSP (Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor) therapist. I believe the most effective therapy synthesizes the body, mind, and spirit, fully integrating the self to support optimal health and well-being.

Where mind and body meet true healing begins.

Trauma and pain are not just stored in the mind—they live in the body. Unresolved experiences and unmet needs often linger as tension, pain, or patterns in the nervous system that talking alone cannot release or clear. This is why somatic therapy, or working with the body, is such a vital part of the healing process.  I bring a unique depth of understanding to how the body holds trauma and pain, and how to safely restore balance so clients can experience holistic and lasting healing from the inside out.

When not working, I love to spend time expanding my cultural awareness through traveling to extraordinary and remote places. (Above in Capilla del Monte, Cordoba, Argentina).

My Approach

Healing is more than treating symptoms—it’s about restoring balance to your whole self: mind, body, and spirit. My approach integrates trauma-informed care, body-based therapies, and compassionate counseling to help you heal at the deepest level. I believe our bodies hold all answers, truth, and healing abilities which all come from within. I work with clients to draw from and help you connect to those powerful mechanisms.

Holistic Healing (Mind–Body–Spirit)

True healing happens when we address the nervous system, the emotions, the mind, and the spirit together. I weave somatic therapy and mind-body practices into counseling to support deep, lasting change.

Trauma-Informed and Compassionate

Trauma and grief can leave us feeling broken or “stuck.” My role is not to “fix” you, but to help uncover and release the burdens you carry so your natural wholeness can shine through. I use a nonjudgmental, compassionate approach that honors your pace, your story, and your strengths.

Breaking Intergenerational Patterns

I specialize in working with developmental and intergenerational trauma. Many struggles—addiction, anxiety, unhealthy patterns—are rooted in unresolved grief and trauma. Together, we’ll bring awareness and healing not only for you, but also for future generations.

Integrative Modalities

Depending on your needs, I may draw from:

  • EMDR Therapy for processing trauma and PTSD

  • Somatic Therapy for nervous system regulation and body-based healing

  • PBSP (Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor) for repairing unmet childhood needs

  • Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy for uncovering and transforming root causes

  • Grief Counseling for navigating loss and rebuilding hope

A Collaborative Journey

Every person is unique, and so is every healing journey. My role is to walk alongside you with respect, care, and clinical expertise, creating a safe space for transformation. Together, we’ll uncover what’s holding you back and open the door to growth, freedom, and resilience.

When you feel ready, I’d be honored to support you.
